The city of Delhi is slated to be one of the largest urban agglomerations in the world in the near future with a projected population of 23 million in 2021. This calls for a huge increase in housing demand. Community centers are conceived as shopping and business centers catering to the needs of the population at the community level. The project is an attempt at the redevelopment of one of the most crowded community centers in New Friends Colony, Delhi. The project consists of commercial centers, a business hotel, housing (HIG, MIG, EWS), a 100-bed hospital and a school for the differently-abled. Context response and improving air quality were the key drivers.
